eLA Annual Survey:
Last week saw us the launch our Annual Survey.  This piece of work helps us to track trends in the eLearning market, allowing us to keep a weather eye on what you see as the current and important issues.

The survey results also help us to monitor how the market is moving.  We will collate this years data with that collected in previous years, and this will help to show the movement there has been in the key issues.  This data helps to add a degree of certainty, to what is often only a gut feel.

And finally, the survey provides the Alliance with information about the services we provide, and helps us to identify possible changes we may need to adopt moving forward.

The survey is open for 6 weeks (closing on 1st August), and I would be grateful if in this time you could find a few minutes to complete the questions and help in the continuing development of the eLearning Alliance.

We will send a summary of the results to all eLearning Alliance members, and to all non-members who complete the survey (and leave a contact e-mail address).

In our March newsletter, we highlighted the launch of the Skills Investment Plan by the Scottish Government and its' objectives and four themes.  With a view to exploring the Plan and it's relevance to the eLearning industry in Scotland, we will soon be kicking off research into this field to identify the skill and competencies within our sector.  In addition, we'll look at the anticipated skills moving forward, any gaps which may exist and, how & where these gaps can be filled.

This research is in addition to the eLA Annual Survey, and we'll be looking to contact a number of organisations directly to get a picture of the skills requirements of the sector.

Software Beta Launches – two of our Members have recently launched beta version of software.  The software from Create eLearning and Aurion is still in the development phase, but the launch of beta testing allows users to try out the software, and to have a say in how the final product will operate.
The software from Create includes a course development tool and a marketplace where we can not only offer our courseware, but also our skills and it gives us the ability to search for skills we may require for a project.  Meanwhile, storee from Aurion, is a digital storytelling tool that allows us to create and share our stories using text, audio, video and photos online.
Members can sign up to take part in the beta testing by visiting Create eLearning and Aurion.

In our last newsletter, we mentioned that eCom were about to launch a sales programme with Andrew Carnegie Business School, well this is now up and running, and you can read more about it via the case study outlining the blended learning solution for the School’s ISMM accredited Sales and Marketing course.

The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) has partnered with Aurion Learning to develop a new E-Learning programme to support the training of team members in both the use of new eProcurement software and the business processes in the SPS.
